Design approach
A contemporary layer over a familiar material.
Warm brick volumes and a geometric outer screen establish the character of this cultural centre. The project looks for a civic presence that is both distinctive and inviting: projecting masses define the street edge, while a transparent entrance opens the building towards everyday urban life.
The patterned screen is more than a facade gesture. It filters daylight into galleries, study rooms and shared workspaces, casting changing shadows over the brick interior. This relationship between a stable material and a shifting atmosphere gives the project its identity, allowing a contemporary architectural language to remain grounded in human scale and familiar texture.
